NACS Show 2026 in Las Vegas: A Fuel and C-Store Software Guide to the Floor

The NACS Show is the one week a year the whole convenience and fuel business is in one building. This year it is Las Vegas, October 6 to 9. If you run fuel or stores and you are going, here is what is on the floor, where the software booths are, and the questions that separate a good back office from a good booth.

We are sitting this one out to keep building, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone at NACS 2027 in Atlanta. In the meantime, if a booth conversation leaves you with questions, we are happy to answer them.

What changed since the last show

The first thing to know walking the floor this year is that the vendor list keeps getting shorter, because the vendors keep buying each other. In the last two years alone:

WhenDealWhat it means
July 2026Acumatica buys VertraxA general cloud ERP buys its way into fuel distribution
April 2026AIMS buys Petro-DataComplete Jobber customers get a new owner
November 2025Titan Cloud closes on Urgent and Techniche EVSite maintenance and EV folded into fuel asset data
April 2025PDI buys P97 NetworksMobile pay and loyalty for major oil brands
December 2024PDI buys Comdata Merchant SolutionsTruck stop and commercial fueling POS
November 2024The Access Group buys PaytronixLoyalty moves under a UK software group

PDI alone has made more than twenty acquisitions. When a big vendor buys the system you run, the product gets a plan, and the plan is usually a move onto the buyer's own platform on the buyer's schedule. I have watched that happen to a lot of operators, and the letter tends to arrive with a date on it. The full history is in alternatives to PDI and leaving FACTOR, DM2, FireStream or FuelSmart.

A modern back office for fuel and stores

That is why we built FastDragon, the modern back office for independent fuel and c-store operators. It is built by people in the fuel business since 1995, for the jobber, marketer and station owner whose business grew sideways. Wholesale, commissioned-agent stations, company stores, compliance records, real estate, fleet and the general ledger are each a module, and you pay for the ones you turn on. The supplier's file lands as lines with the taxes carried through as written. Allocation matches each purchase to the dealer who took it, by grade, and shows the margin while you are still looking at the load. Every settlement and invoice posts a balanced journal entry to the right company's books, so the month closes out of one set of numbers.

It runs in a browser on any computer or phone, and it is built for one site up to dozens of sites and about 100 million gallons a year. You can see it this week without flying anywhere. Bring the same load you would bring to a booth, and we will run it through FastDragon with you. Book a time on the demo page or see the screens on the Fuel Jobber page.

Six questions to ask at every booth

A booth demo runs on clean sample data with a salesperson who has given it a hundred times. Your own paperwork is the test. Bring it.

  • Run my load. One transport load, split across three customers, with freight and two states of tax. Watch how many times a number gets typed.
  • Who owns this product, and since when? Then ask what the owner has said about its future in writing.
  • What does year one cost? Subscription or licence, conversion, training days, support, per-site and per-user fees, and any price feed they resell. Real ranges are in how much fuel software costs.
  • How long until I am live? Get a date, and ask whose staff does the data work.
  • How many sets of books can it keep? The operating company, the real estate LLC and the trucking company each need their own. See multi-entity accounting for petroleum.
  • What does it cost to leave? Contract term, renewal terms, and whether your data comes out in a file you can open.

If you are shopping for a new POS or dispenser, ask each one which back office systems it already sends a clean daily file to, and ask to see the file. Your back office is only as good as what the POS, the tank gauge and the price service send it.

See you in Atlanta

Enjoy the show. Walk the floor, collect the demos, and send us your shortlist when you get home. We will tell you on the first call where FastDragon fits your operation. And we will see you at NACS 2027 in Atlanta, October 5 to 8.

Until then you will find us closer to home. FastDragon is part of the New England fuel and convenience community, and in September we were at the NECSEMA Expo in Rhode Island and the Sam's Children gala in Connecticut.

What should I ask a fuel software vendor at a trade show booth?

Bring one real transport load, split across customers, with freight and two states of tax, and ask the vendor to run it on their screen. Then ask who owns the product, what year one costs with conversion and training, how long the move takes, and what it costs to leave. A booth demo runs on clean sample data, so your own paperwork is the test.
